Two of the larger worldwide Mondex card pilots occurred in the Canadian cities of Guelph and later in Sherbrooke both of which are in the province of Ontario. There was an enormous amount of publicity generated and a great deal was written especially about the Guelph trail. Sadly the trails did not go well and the hoopla and press coverage melted away (no pun intended). We will eventually hope to have two pages dedicated to each, one for Guelph and one for Sherbrooke, if we find enough images.

More to come soon on these trails and a short history of Mondex card program in Canada.....

This is an actual receipt from a Mondex test card similar to the actual CIBC Mondex card above, when the test card was used at Tim Horton's restaurant at the Nortel World headquarters in Brampton, Ontario (Nortel was making payphones and other devices that accepted Mondex) on May 1, 1997. Note the amount of the purchase and the similar card number on the receipt and on the card. It is unclear why it starts with a "4" as this numbering scheme is generally reserved for Visa cards.
